Good Bye L'amyx On Lakeshore

Last Saturday I did the open mic on L'Amyx. The last one to be exact. Here is my poem in honor of L'Amyx:

Lovable, black, small little round things called bubbles.
Amazing staff full of joy and happiness, including Albert Dumbledore.
Magical hot chocolate, full of cream from whipped world.
Yearning for the cakes every time I go there.
eXcellent piece of metal stuck right in the counter -- only one to be eXact!

I know I'll really miss L'Amyx. A LOT! On the bright side I did get to do my first open mic and the owner of L'Amyx (who has an adorable little baby) is opening a new Asian resturant there and asked me to be in her promotional video! Ta ta for now.

What I Wish Adults Knew About Birthday Parties

I love birthday parties. I don't know a single kid who isn't crazy about them. My favorite part about them is the playing part. I love playing with people even if I don't know the person I'm playing with. No matter what, I like slumber parties the best because there is not too many kids. The advantage of not so many kids around is that you get to talk to everybody at least once or twice and if your playing with a doll, for example, your turns can be longer than if lots of kids were around.

I think the best cake is ice cream cake. I like the tangy flavor of the ice cream and the nice rich flavor of the cake. The best kind of ice cream to go in the cake is probably strawberry or vanilla and the best kind of cake to go with the ice cream is probably, well, just any cake.

When my mom or dad gets the presents for my friends I'm usually not with them. My mom will usually ask me what each friend likes and then will order or get it, as long as it's not too expensive. My dad, on the other hand, instead of asking me, will ask my mom for advice about what to get, and then order it on the computer. I'd rather they take me with them.

Until next time. ;)

The fantastic tales of summer camp

Hey guys! Remember that store L'amyx I was telling you about? Well it's closing. So if you wanted to go you better go now. I'm serious. Just updating. P.S. It's the one on Lakeshore that's closing.

Is everybody still with me? It's my second post and this time it's about my summer camp adventures. First was The Lair Of The Golden Bear. It was a family camp and very kid friendly. The next thing I did was go on a vacation to Ashland, Oregon where my family and I watched the Fourth of July festival. Then there was Adventure Day Camp where I won an award (a monkey) which I didn't get to keep. They even have their own carnival. AWESOME!! After that it was Girl Scout Camp in Pescadero where I met more than twenty-eight girls (including the counselers) in one week. There are two more summer camps to come and one of them is Hills Camp. It's up in the Oakland hills as you might have guessed and I'm doing swim team there. Then last, but never least, there's Sarah Science Camp where you make all these wacky things that are sometimes very useful. Hope you tune in next week when I'll be posting about birthday parties. Ta ta for now.

It all starts with hot chocolate...

Welcome to my blog everybody! I hope this blog will open a window to show you what a kid's way of life is like in Oakland these days. Today I will tell you about hot chocolate because it is close to my heart and is super delicious. My experiences with hot chocolate usually start at Starbucks or Pete's. When I go to Lakeshore at night with my family, I often go to one of those popular places. But, from my perspective, the best hot chocolate experience is at L'Amyx on Lakeshore. The hot chocolate is nice and creamy with bittersweet chocolate. One of my favorite makers of this exquisite drink is Albert. He has bright orange hair and a beard that reminds me a little bit of Albus Dumbledore. (In fact, I think we should call him "Albert Dumbledore.") There is one other thing I really like about L'Amyx. They are always happy to give me a piece of paper when I ask, and they usually hang my creations up on their refrigerator, and that makes me feel good.

That said, my very favorite hot chocolate is the one I drink at home, when there is whipped cream and marshmallows in it, and we are all sitting by the fire in cold winter.

I hope you enjoyed this entry. Please join me next week to hear about summer camp. Ta ta for now.
